Dubai 1

by Paras G. on October 16th, 2009

After having spent countless hours waiting for connecting flights during many occasions at Dubai International Airport; on September 2nd, 2009, I finally stepped out into Dubai city for the first time ever, to a stifling embrace of hot, humid air.

Here, then, are some of my first glimpses of the artificial desert paradise they call Dubai (this set of photos also happens to be a pre-cursor to a previous entry titled ‘Dubai 2′):

Yours truly, gearing up for a day of fashionable photography.

Those killer shoes, literally attacked my feet two nights before I left London. I had to give them up, the beauties.

A view of the Madinat Jumeirah Resort, an Arabian Venice.

The souk that is part of this resort complex is a quirky blend of traditional Arabian architecture and lifestyles and modern conveniences like air-conditioning.

My very enthusiastic and very interesting guide for the day, Ankit.

Ankit, like me, is an intrepid explorer and enjoys intermittent spells of photography and writing on his unusually named blog: ‘radiomorphosis’.

Strangely enough, the building didn’t seem that tall when seen from afar. The next time I am in Dubai, I am going to get up, close and personal and then decide if I am in awe or not.

Thank you, Ankit. You won’t believe how many times I’ve told Adarsh about how much you and I have in common. It’s great to finally know someone a lot like me. You should write more frequently on your blog.
